Welcome to Hamburg

The 2012 Salon will be located in a beautiful museum near the city center, named Hamburgmuseum. Everything is organized and consolidated, as we Germans say: “under one umbrella“.

The hotels are less than five minutes walking distance and the city‘s famous harbour is nearby.

This major landmark will provide Salon‘s theme, “Hamburg and the Harbour“.

The cranes, the containers, the freighters and the jetties are all part of the vista around the River Elbe, which runs right through the town. Lake Alster, its tributaries and the River Elbe give the impression that Hamburg is governed by water. It will amaze you to learn that our town has more bridges than Venice, Amsterdam, and London combined.

The ancient tradition of Merchant Guilds is a feature of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

The Hamburgmuseum as well as many of the merchant houses are built of brick, the typical architectural building block of Hamburg.

The exhibition will take place from 22nd - 25th March 2012.

The Hotels

We chose four Hotels in different categories in price and length of stay. All hotels are located in St. Pauli and around five minutes walk away from the Hamburgmuseum.

Arrival

The Salon is located in the middle of Hamburg, one can reach nearly everything by foot, bus or underground.

From the Hamburg airport, take the S-Bahn S1 to the Station „Landungsbrücken“. Change there in the underground U3 in direction „St. Pauli“ (one stop). From there, walk to the Hotels and the museum in less than 5 minutes.

For those, coming with the train stopping at the main station (Hauptbahnhof), take the underground U 3 to „St. Pauli“.

If travelling by car: Follow the signs to the city (Centrum) and Altona/St. Pauli.

The best Hotel for parking is the Motel One, they have an underground garage.
